What kind of routing options are available for commercial vehicles or trucks?
In terms of commercial vehicles, we currently support creating routes that avoid u-turns or tolls. We also provide some support for order and weight limits for planning your routes (e.g. you can limit the number of orders that can be added to a route based on the number of orders, items or by item weight if you have this information on your product items). Our route planning engine currently provides stop-by-stop directions in a way that does not account for local restrictions related to commercial vehicles/trucks (e.g. specific roads or motorways) natively.
EasyRoutes Delivery Driver (our mobile all) does not provide turn-by-turn navigation itself, and instead provides stop addresses with a button that links users out to Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze. Drivers generally are using these apps as a guide.
If your operation involves large commercial vehicles or trucks subject to local traffic regulations or restrictions, you might find these standard navigation apps insufficient. In these cases, we recommend using a specialized navigation device or app designed for commercial vehicles - such as a Garmin GPS unit - and using route exports in the GPS Exchange Format (GPX) to import into your Garmin device.
To export a route in GPX format, when viewing any existing route, access the More actions (three dots icon) menu found on the right-hand side of the page below the map. Select Download as GPX as shown below:
A .GPX file will be downloaded to your device, which can then be quickly imported into supported Garmin devices.
